What is Title I?
Title I is a federally funded program designed to ensure that all students have access to a high-quality education and the support they need to meet New Hampshire’s academic standards. Title I funding provides additional instructional opportunities and family engagement activities to help students succeed.
Title I in the Dover School District
The Dover School District has two schools that receive Title I funding:
- Woodman Park School operates a schoolwide Title I program, which means all students may benefit from Title I-funded services and supports.
- Dover Middle School operates a targeted assistance Title I program, which means that students are identified for additional support based on academic need.
The district also administers Title I services for eligible students attending participating private schools, including St. Mary Academy and Portsmouth Christian Academy, in accordance with federal requirements.
How Is Title I Funding Used?
Title I funds support eligible students and families by providing:
- Additional instructional staff and academic support
- Evidence-based instructional materials and resources
- Family engagement events and activities
- Professional learning for educators
These funds are intended to supplement, not replace, the educational services provided to all students.
Family Involvement and Questions
Families play an important role in the success of our Title I programs. Parents and guardians are encouraged to review the information and documents posted below and to participate in our Title I planning process. Community members are also welcome to join our stakeholder group, which helps guide how Title I funds are used in the district.
